Yongwoo Lee - 2023

Yongwoo Lee is an art academic and curator, who has served as a master professor at Tokyo University of the Arts, a professor at Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, Shanghai University and Goryeo University, and is currently a professor at the School of Architecture and Urban Planning, Tongji University. He is the initiator and founding artistic director of the Gwangju Biennale, and has served as President of the Gwangju Biennale Foundation, as well as the President of the IBA (International Biennial Association). He is the founder and a co-art director of the Shanghai Project with Hans Ulrich Obrist. He is also the director of the Shanghai International Art City Research Institute, and a member of the Solomon Guggenheim Museum’s Asian Council and a judge for the Venice Biennale (2015) and the Asian Institute of Architects Architecture Prize (2020). He is the author of The Art and Life of Nam June Paik, Video Art, Information and Reality, and The Contemporary Art - The Turn of The Centur.
